Spirit Week Ends With Holiday Cheer

Today was the last day of Spirit Week leading up to Holiday Break.

After "White Out Day" on Monday, today was "Comfy Cozy Day" — and two great minds were thinking alike when it came to expressing the theme.

Happy Holidays, and see you in 2026!

Congratulations to Jacoby Jutras and Mr. Mudrick who were the respective student and staff winners of the "Favorite Holiday Song Bracket" this year.

In a ConVal first, Jutras was the only person who guessed the winning song — "It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas" — in the first round of voting.

Thank you to all the students and staff who voted in the contest and cast almost 1,300 votes to determine the winner.

    Physics Class Catapult Experiments

The catapult performance assessment in Ms. Young's Physics class requires students to use their knowledge of vectors, acceleration, and horizontal and vertical motion to predict how their catapult will perform in a new situation.

They begin by building a catapult and measuring the distance and the time it takes to launch a miniature ping-pong ball. They then use this data to calculate the launch velocity.

On assessment day, each student is assigned a specific height to launch their catapult from. They apply kinematics equations and the quadratic formula to determine how far their catapult will send the ball in hopes of hitting the target.

This year, two students earned high honors on this task, hitting the target within 15 cm of the bullseye.
