The Annual Holiday Crafts Fair at ConVal High School on November 22 brought together dozens of exhibitors, craftsmen, artists, and local businesses.

The event, which is traditionally held in the ConVal Gym, expanded into the Mini Gym, the main hallway in the link, and even the parking lot this year.

20 ConVal students visited UNH Manchester on Thursday, November 20, to explore the business career pathways available on campus.

Students took part in a pizza business simulation while engaging with UNH students and faculty.

All students who attended the event had the chance to have their application fee waived if they chose to apply to UNH Manchester.

14 ConVal High School students attended the inaugural Women Educators Leading Learning New England (WELL-NE) Teen Leadership Conference in Concord on November 17.

The event was organized to empower young women in their roles as emerging leaders and to learn to lead with courage, confidence, and collaboration.

Throughout the day, students participated in a variety of hands-on activities, breakout sessions, and conversations designed to equip them with practical tools to strengthen their leadership skills — both for their roles in high school and for their future contributions to their communities.

Principal Heather McKillop and Superintendent Ann Forrest also attended the event to support students and assist them throughout the day.

Students in Frau Hodgdon's German IV class connected with Nusaybah Laguda via a teleconference link during Block 3 today.

Laguda, a graduate of the Brooklyn High School of the Arts and current student at New York University, is studying at Humboldt University in Berlin at the moment. Students asked a variety of questions related to her studies, including what kind of art she likes to create, who her favorite German artist is, and whether she was more interested in German history in general or more specifically in German art history.

The next unit in German IV is devoted to the arts, and the students are already looking forward to connecting with her again on December 8 for another video conference.

On Sunday, November 9, ConVal's Granite State Challenge team competed at Plymouth High School against 34 other schools by taking a 100-question written test. The 14 top-scoring teams from the qualifying round advanced to the Granite State Challenge.

Team members Ben Michaud, Ben Ferisi, Iris Palmer, Marcus Jordan, Colin Maybury, and Vincent Hollenbeck scored 83% on the test, well above the average. They qualified and will play Merrimack High School in round one on January 10!

The Granite State Challenge is an annual televised academic quiz show on New Hampshire PBS where high school teams from across the state compete in a single-elimination tournament. The competition tests students' knowledge across a wide range of subjects, including math, science, social studies, language arts, fine arts, current events, and topics specific to New Hampshire.

During the Professional Development Day on Monday, November 10, one session was set aside for safety training and the rehearsal of evacuation procedures.

School resource officer Justin Hyland reviewed in detail how an orderly school evacuation should proceed and what routes should be followed. Teachers, administrators, and staff then engaged in a practice drill, which involved carrying the blue and orange emergency backpacks to designated locations.
